Africa boasts many unique and interesting landscapes, making birding in many of these areas exceptional. Having lived in both Malawi and Zambia, I have developed a strong affection for the birding aspects of these regions, where you can find birds not found anywhere else in Africa, neither north nor south. The Brachystegia belt stretches from Tanzania in the east to Angola in the west, and as far south as Zimbabwe and Mozambique.
Although this belt may be quite broad, within it, you will find many species that are endemic and, more so, species that are extremely localized. For instance, species like the Stierling's Woodpecker, found in the Dzalanyama Forest in western Malawi, or the Bar-winged Weaver, which can be found in Mwinilunga and Mutinondo in Zambia.
These are the places we will head to for birdwatching here in Africa to find these amazing species. So, send me a message, and let's get an African birding tour organized and set off for an unforgettable birding experience.
